Profit vs Potential
Do all positive changes need to be profitable? The world is changing, & it's changing fast.
If you could profit a large amount from every technology breakthrough, from every success in cryptocurrencies, & squeeze it all into your own bank account… would you?You might…You may also think I’m thinking a bit far out right now.But am I really?Today, there are millions of investors looking for a profit in every sector of growth in our economy, & billions of humans across the globe who could use some more of this so-called “profit”.Now, If you’ve been following the crypto & traditional markets the past 1.5 years you’re likely unaware of the word “profit” (joke… kinda)In reality, all of the people looking for where a profit can be made often are unaware of a more profitable area in life. This area I’m talking about is potential.”What?? potential?? That’s what I base all my investments on, the potential to increase in value!!” - you might say (sorry if I butchered your mannerisms)Here’s what I mean:Potential is in the eye of the beholder, & like I just went over above, most people only pay attention to profit-driven potential. When you zoom out and take a look at the potential that can come from any system, technology, or way of thinking alone, you see that there is more than financial gain.Taking a further look into potential means evaluating things from a fundamental point of view, and expanding possibilities from there. This way of thinking has made my life more profitable not just in wealth but in health, & relationships too.
Now, let’s go over 2 examples of the power to build conclusions from potential…& possibly open some new ways of thinking for you.
Example #1
The potential of cryptocurrencies.
Cryptocurrencies are aimed to be a new & better form of money. So the fundamental questions behind their purpose are “Why do we need them?” & “Why are they better than our current money?”Answering these questions, are the ones that open up your brain to think of new potential scenarios, use cases, & general applications of crypto that make society or life here on earth better.Suddenly you’re researching less on how to make a 1000% gain overnight, & more on the basics & evaluating how broken our current banking & monetary policies are. From here you now can potential for a shift in the tides, or maybe you’re research concluded that everything is fine & the US can keep trillions of dollars printing and going into more debt… Whatever the case, you’ve now dug at the problem, the fundamentals, & can make a higher clarity opinion on the potential of the thing in question. This is a much better process than sorting through investment decisions because you bring the real-world problems into question & now you can:
make a better-informed decision to make more profit (potentially)
connect your craving for a profit with the real world, & the problems in it
be better equipt with newfound knowledge going forwardSubscribe now
Example #2
Now let’s take this example away from crypto, & apply it to something else:
The potential of renewable energy. Our current world’s energy is powered mostly by fossil fuels and other crude oils, What about solar power & other renewable energy sources? Haven’t they seen over 75% reduction in costs to produce in the past 10 years? What is the likelihood we could run everything on solar? What if solar power keeps up its decline in price since its inception? Could everyone run their own power for fractions of today’s cost? All of the above once again, are questions about a potential outcome that we can draw a possibility for from what we have taken the time to find out & learn. You could also argue about the downfalls of potential by asking things like “What if we succeeded & millions of people lost their jobs?”, and “What if it takes too much space to place all these solar panels?” Even asking questions based on a negative light, the bad parts of something you are still learning a lot more than if you were to stay inside of a bubble & not question the potential of things.Giving people at home solar power that powers their own needs for 1/100th of the cost of today’s energy is a steep slope for potential profit, especially so because it goes against so many people’s beliefs and energy giant’s interests. As a result the potential of one thing being solved in a great way now puts people on edge, less money is flowing around, people make less money, and they become worried… but at the same time, energy costs less money. Sadly most won’t see the positives as much as the negatives most of the time because they aren’t looking for potential, they are looking for profitability in their life immediately.
Will this approach to thinking of potential over instant profitability 100x your life?
No, probably not.But it will make you really think — & it’s easy to forget to critically think often about the things around you.
Are you in it for profit or potential?
The potential for a better world using cryptographic solutions is very possible. But the main obstacle, the way I see it, is greed.— An ironic part of greed & creating better money with cryptocurrencies is that people get lost in the new system trying to make money in the old failing one.
Don’t get me wrong there is massive potential for people to profit, but most are around crypto not for better money but for a bigger number in their traditional bank account, at less fault of their own than most think, but more fault from the system they have been fostered to use their entire life.I’m not someone who is immune to greed, I don’t think anyone is. As it stands currently if you were to only hold crypto and not dollars it would be hard to pay rent or buy groceries at all.To me, crypto is not just about making money, but also for me to follow and contribute to the understanding of technology that may potentially create a better world with better money.
Now, Which are you here for? Leave me a reply.
potential lies between what is and what could be.
